The development of human resources development, especially lecturers or educational personnel, has increased with the enrollment of eight new lecturers for CPNS acceptance in 2019. Currently, the number of permanent lecturers from the BM is 44. The BM has eight lecturers with academic positions as Assistant professors and 19 lecturers with academic positions as Assistant Professors. All permanent university lecturers who teach a course have areas of expertise compatible with their BM competencies. The DTPS at the BM is 44 lecturers consisting of 5 lecturers (11.4%) currently pursuing a doctoral degree and 25 lecturers (56, 8%) with Magister degrees or specialists. In addition, 14 lecturers (31.8%) are pursuing Magister and specialist education.
In performing educational services, the BM lecturers are assisted by lecturers or education personnel from external institutions who collaborate with UNIB, such as specialist doctors at M.Yunus Hospital and education personnel from the Faculty of Medicine Diponegoro University. Therefore, the implementation of student learning modules can run well. The medical staff is available at M.Yunus Bengkulu Hospital as the main teaching hospital for FKIK UNIB. The current number of specialist doctors is 57, consisting of major and minor specialities, except forensic specialists. Based on the data on the number of active lecturers and the current number of active students (December 2021), the ratio between active lecturers and students at the BM is 1: 8.
In addition to carrying out teaching activities, lecturers also carry out various research and community services according to their respective fields and refer to the faculty research roadmap. The faculty provides grants to help fund lecturers’ research and community service activities. Both the lecturers and the education personnel understand their needs to improve themselves, so they always carry out the process of self-development. For example, they write articles and publish them in journals to obtain certification and functional promotions and join English language courses to develop international communication. The BM Study Programme also facilitates lecturers and education personnel who want to conduct seminars and workshops. In addition, the study programme provides rewards for lecturers who successfully published research articles in national accredited journals and reputable international journals. Therefore, the number of lecturer publications has increased every year.

The lecturers and institutions are committed to carrying out academic and teaching development and the Tri Dharma of higher education. The academic and teaching development activities proposed by the BM Study Programme to the faculty are based on the proposals and discussions conducted with the BM Study Programme lecturer team. The lecturers must write a BKD report on the Tri Dharma activities, including teaching, research, and community service. With the evaluation through BKD reporting using the SISTER application (https://sister.unib.ac.id/), the lecturers understand their needs in fulfilling the Tri Dharma of higher education. For example, the lecturers increase the publications through national and international journals or research activities funded by faculty, university, or national competitive funding to fulfil the research component of the BKD. It is certainly improves the performance of the institution.
Based on the activities of the DTPS following the Tri Dharma of higher education, active lecturers at FKIK in 2020 have generally carried out a total of 15 credits workload on average for each semester. The proportion of maximum workload, in general, is not yet achieved, but the lecturers have conducted research, community service, and publications periodically.
Based on the lecturer’s research data record, for the last three years, there have been 58 studies and 36 community services conducted and reported. The output of scientific publications in the form of national and international publications has increased over the last three years. The productivity and quality of research and community services are assessed from the quantity and quality of the results produced. The research and community services conducted in the last three years have increased. Likewise, the quality of research and community service has increased significantly. The lecturers of the Bachelor in Medicine Study Programme FKIK UNIB have obtained four Patents or Intellectual Property Rights (Haki).
